Individual Coaching
“Good coaching is assistance for self-help.”
What it is about:
My role as a coach
Corporate mentoring and coaching are clearly distinct from psychological counseling. They primarily target mentally stable individuals who may be going through a difficult phase in their lives. These are people who desire either professional or personal change, personal growth, and development.
In this context, clients are the best experts on their own personalities; they may only need some external insights and perspectives. Guidance promotes the exploration of alternative viewpoints and possibilities. The coach does not provide advice in the traditional sense but rather triggers insights. They assist in recognizing internal alarm signals and noticing them in a timely manner. Through targeted questioning, they provide support for self-help.
How does a coach work?
Unlike psychological counseling, coaching and mentoring are aimed at mentally stable individuals. It’s not about overcoming a psychological crisis but enabling a change in the status quo. Coaching is suitable for people who want to take the next step in their personal or professional growth. Here, a coach can provide clients with different perspectives, prompting them to think.
So, coaching can be seen as a form of self-help because a coach can ask targeted questions, enabling clients to recognize their body’s signals and align their actions accordingly. Ultimately, everyone is the best expert on their own personality!
